तः पार्श्वाद् वृषाङ्कस्य ब्रह्मचारी न्यर्त
पिङ्गाक्षस् सः क्षेत्रं वान् नीलोहितः
तद् गृह्य नुःश्रेष्ठं स्थौ स्थानं माहितः
व्यर्षच् चापि विधिवत् रं नुर् त्तमम्

Transliteration (IAST)

tataḥ rśvād vṛṣāṅkasya brahma nyavartata ||
piṅgākṣas tapasaḥ kṣetraṃ balan nīlalohitaḥ ||
sa tad gṛhya dhanuḥśreṣṭhaṃ tasthau sthānaṃ sahitaḥ ||
vyakarṣac cāpi vidhivat saśaraṃ dhanur uttamam ||

Translation

Then from beside the Bull-marked one a brahmacharin came forth -- ruddy-eyed, the field of austerity, mighty, blue-red. He, having taken that finest bow, stood in position, composed, and drew, according to rule, the finest bow with the arrow.
