श्रान्तं चैनं समालक्ष्य ज्ञात्वा दूरे च सैन्धवम् ॥
सिंहनादेन महता सर्वतः पर्यवारयन् ॥
तांस् तु दृष्ट्वा सुसंरब्धान् उत्स्मयन् पुरुषर्षभः ॥
शनकैर् इव दाशार्हम् अर्जुनो वाक्यम् अब्रवीत् ॥

Translation
And marking him weary, and knowing the Sindhu king was far off, they surrounded him on every side with a great lion's roar. Seeing them greatly enraged, the bull among men, Arjuna, smiling, calmly spoke a word to the Dasharha.

Surrounded and weary, Arjuna "utsmayan... śanakaiḥ" -- smiles and calmly addresses Krishna. Calm before impending danger is the fruit of trust in the Lord at one's side. It is telling that even encircled, he does not grow anxious but takes counsel with God. The verse teaches that closeness to the Lord grants peace amid danger: where God is with you, one may smile even ringed by enemies and calmly take counsel; the devotee's composure is not carelessness but trust in the One who is near and to whom one's fate is entrusted.
