विषण्णवदनश् चापि युयुधानो ऽभवन् नृप ॥
भारद्वाजं रणे दृष्ट्वा विसृजन्तं शिताञ् शरान् ॥
तं तु संप्रेक्ष्य ते पुत्राः सैनिकाश् च विशां पते ॥
प्रहृष्टमनसो भूत्वा सिंहवद् व्यनदन् मुहुः ॥
तं श्रुत्वा निनदं घोरं पीड्यमानं च माधवम् ॥
युधिष्ठिरो ऽब्रवीद् राजन् सर्वसैन्यानि भारत ॥
एष वृष्णिवरो वीरः सात्यकिः सत्यकर्मकृत् ॥
ग्रस्यते युधि वीरेण भानुमान् इव राहुणा ॥
अभिद्रवत गच्छध्वं सात्यकिर् यत्र युध्यते ॥

taṃ tu saṃprekṣya te putrāḥ sainikāś ca viśāṃ pate ||

taṃ śrutvā ninadaṃ ghoraṃ pīḍyamānaṃ ca mādhavam ||
yudhiṣṭhiro 'bravīd rājan sarvasainyāni bhārata ||
eṣa vṛṣṇivaro vīraḥ sātyakiḥ satyakarmakṛt ||
grasyate yudhi vīreṇa bhānumān iva rāhuṇā ||
abhidravata gacchadhvaṃ sātyakir yatra yudhyate ||
"And with a downcast face Yuyudhana became, o king, seeing in battle Bharadvaja's son releasing sharp arrows. Seeing him, your sons and warriors, o lord of men, with delighted hearts roared like lions again and again. Hearing that fearsome roar, and seeing Madhava oppressed, Yudhishthira said, o king, to all the armies: 'This foremost hero of the Vrishnis, Satyaki, whose deeds are true, is being swallowed in battle by that hero [Drona], as the sun is swallowed by Rahu.'"

Satyaki is likened to the sun devoured by Rahu: even the most radiant is for a time hidden beneath the onslaught of darkness. But an eclipse of the sun is not its death -- it shines again. It is telling that Yudhishthira calls for help the moment he sees his friend hard pressed. The verse teaches that the temporary eclipse of the valiant is not his end but a cry for help to those who love him; and it is the friend's duty to hasten to where his dear one lies for a time hidden by the darkness of misfortune.
