स्य त्वम् वं संल्पं वृथा र्तुम् र्हसि
नंस्य वार्ष्णे भीस्य चोयोः
यच् चापि तीर्थानि रन्न् च्छं द्वाकां प्रति
त्राहम् पि ते क्तिम् र्जुनं प्रति दृष्टवान्
तत् सौहृदम् न्येषु या शैने क्षितम्
था त्वम् स्मान् से र्तमानान् प्लवे
सो ऽभिजात्या क्त्या ख्यस्याचार्यस्य
सौहृस्य वीर्यस्य कुलीत्वस्य मा
त्यस्य हाबाहो नुम्पार्थम्
नुरूपं हेष्वा र्म त्वं र्तुम् र्हसि

Transliteration (IAST)

tasya tvam evaṃ saṃkalpaṃ na vṛthā kartum arhasi ||
dhanaṃjayasya rṣṇeya mama bhīmasya cobhayoḥ ||
yac cāpi rthāni carann agacchaṃ dvārakāṃ prati ||
tatrāham api te bhaktim arjunaṃ prati dṛṣṭavān ||
na tat sauhṛdam anyeṣu ma śaineya lakṣitam ||
yathā tvam asmān bhajase vartan upaplave ||
so 'bhityā ca bhaktyā ca sakhyasyāryakasya ca ||
sauhṛdasya ca ryasya kunatvasya dhava ||
satyasya ca maho anukampārtham eva ca ||
anupaṃ maheṣvāsa karma tvaṃ kartum arhasi ||

Translation

"You must not bring to nothing this intention of Dhananjaya's, O Varshneya — nor, likewise, that of me and Bhima, both. And when, wandering among the holy places, I made my way to Dvaraka, there too I saw your devotion to Arjuna. I have observed no such warmth in others, O descendant of Shini, as that which you show us, who dwelt in Upaplavya. You — by nobility of birth and devotion, for the sake of friendship and discipleship, of warmth and valor, of noble lineage, O Madhava..."
