तान् द्रोणचापनिर्मुक्तान् दाशार्हः पततः शरान् ॥
द्वाभ्यां द्वाभ्यां सुपुङ्खाभ्यां चिच्छेद परमास्त्रवित् ॥
tato 'sya bāṇān aparān indrāśanisamasvanān ||
bhāradvājo 'ntaraprekṣī preṣayām āsa saṃyuge ||
tān droṇacāpanirmuktān dāśārhaḥ patataḥ śarān ||
dvābhyāṃ dvābhyāṃ supuṅkhābhyāṃ ciccheda paramāstravit ||
Then the son of Bharadvaja, watching for an opening, loosed at him in battle other arrows resounding like the thunderbolt of Indra. Those arrows, released from Drona's bow, falling, Dasharha [Satyaki], the supreme knower of weapons, severed by twos with his own well-feathered shafts.

Drona, "antaraprekṣī," watches for an opening: even the master seeks the moment of vulnerability. But Satyaki, "paramāstravit," the supreme knower of weapons, cuts the flying arrows down by twos. It is telling that the pupil yields nothing to the teacher in skill. The verse teaches that in a clash of equals there is no easy breach: where both are perfect, every design meets a worthy answer, and superiority is won not by a trick but by fullness of mastery.
