तो द्रोणं शिनेः पौत्रो राजन् विव्या त्रिणा
क्षिणं भुजम् साद्य पीयन् र्ष
द्रोणो ऽपि रे राजन् मास्य हद् नुः
र्धन्द्रे चिच्छे क्त्या साथिम्
मुमो थिस् स्य क्त्या मातः
थोस्थम् साद्य मुहूर्तं संन्यषी

dakṣiṇaṃ bhujam ādya ḍayan bharatarṣabha ||
droṇo 'pi samare jan mādhavasya mahad dhanuḥ ||
ardhacandreṇa ciccheda rathaśaktyā ca rathim ||
mumoha sarathis tasya rathaśaktyā sahataḥ ||
sa rathopastham ādya murtaṃ saṃnyaṣīdata ||

Translation

Then the grandson of Shini pierced Drona, O king, with a feathered arrow, reaching his right arm, tormenting him, O bull among the Bharatas. Drona too, in the battle, O king, severed Madhava's great bow with a crescent-headed shaft, and with a chariot-spear struck down his charioteer. His charioteer, struck by the chariot-spear, fainted and sank down onto the platform of the chariot for a moment.
