अत्यद्भुतम् इदं तात त्वत्सकाशाच् छृणोम्य् अहम् ॥
एकस्य बहुभिर् युद्धं शत्रुभिर् वै महारथैः ॥
विपरीतम् अहं मन्ये मन्दभाग्यान् सुतान् प्रति ॥
यत्रावध्यन्त समरे सात्वतेन महात्मना ॥
एकस्य हि न पर्याप्तं मत्सैन्यं तस्य संजय ॥
क्रुद्धस्य युयुधानस्य सर्वे तिष्ठन्तु पाण्डवाः ॥
atyadbhutam idaṃ tāta tvatsakāśāc chṛṇomy aham ||
ekasya bahubhir yuddhaṃ śatrubhir vai mahārathaiḥ ||
viparītam ahaṃ manye mandabhāgyān sutān prati ||
yatrāvadhyanta samare sātvatena mahātmanā ||
ekasya hi na paryāptaṃ matsainyaṃ tasya saṃjaya ||
kruddhasya yuyudhānasya sarve tiṣṭhantu pāṇḍavāḥ ||
"Most wondrous is this, dear one, that I hear from you — a battle of one against many enemies, great warriors. I deem it a reversal of fate toward my ill-fated sons, where they were being struck down in battle by Sātvata, the great soul. For my army is not enough for one man, Sanjaya — let all the Pandavas stand aside against the enraged Yuyudhana."

Dhritarashtra admits: "ekasya na paryāptaṃ matsainyam" — his whole army is not enough against one enraged Satyaki. It is telling that number turns to nothing before the one who is guarded by truth. The verse teaches that the might of the many is futile against the one backed by dharma: when strength rests on truth, an entire army is not enough against it, and the blind king, counting his own hosts, sees their helplessness before a single righteous man.
