यथैव च मम प्रीतिर् अर्जुने शत्रुसूदने ॥
तथैव वृष्णिवीरे ऽपि सात्वते युद्धदुर्मदे ॥
अतिभारे नियुक्तश् च मया शैनेयनन्दनः ॥
स तु मित्रोपरोधेन गौरवाच् च महाबलः ॥
प्रविष्टो भारतीं सेनां मकरः सागरं यथा ॥
असौ हि श्रूयते शब्दः शूराणाम् अनिवर्तिनाम् ॥
मिथः संयुध्यमानानां वृष्णिवीरेण धीमता ॥
प्राप्तकालं सुबलवन् निश्चित्य बहुधा हि मे ॥
तत्रैव पाण्डवेयस्य भीमसेनस्य धन्विनः ॥
गमनं रोचते मह्यं यत्र यातौ महारथौ ॥

Transliteration (IAST)

yathaiva ca mama prītir arjune śatrusūdane ||
tathaiva vṛṣṇivīre 'pi sātvate yuddhadurmade ||
atibhāre niyuktaś ca mayā śaineyanandanaḥ ||
sa tu mitroparodhena gauravāc ca mahābalaḥ ||
praviṣṭo bhāratīṃ senāṃ makaraḥ sāgaraṃ yathā ||
asau hi śrūyate śabdaḥ śūrāṇām anivartinām ||
mithaḥ saṃyudhyamānānāṃ vṛṣṇivīreṇa dhīmatā ||
prāptakālaṃ subalavan niścitya bahudhā hi me ||
tatraiva pāṇḍaveyasya bhīmasenasya dhanvinaḥ ||
gamanaṃ rocate mahyaṃ yatra yātau mahārathau ||

Translation

"And just as is my affection for Arjuna, slayer of foes, so too it is for the Vrishni hero, Satvata, fierce in battle. I appointed the delight of Shaineya to an overwhelming burden; yet he, mighty one, went out of duty to a friend and out of respect. That very sound is heard — of unyielding heroes, fighting one another with the wise Vrishni hero."
