द्रोणस् तु त्वरो राजन् क्षिप्तो भीमे संयुगे
थम् न्यं मास्था व्यूद्वारम् पायौ
स्मिन् क्षणे स्य न्ता तूर्णम् श्वान् चोयत्
भीसेस्य कौव्य तद् द्भुतम् वावत्
तः स्वथम् स्था भीसेनो हालः
भ्यर्त वेगे पुत्रस्य वाहिनीम्
मृद्नन् क्षत्रियान् जौ वातो वृक्षान् वोद्धतः
च्छद् दायन् सेनां सिन्धुवेगो गान्

droṇas tu satvaro jan kṣipto bhīmena saṃyuge ||
ratham anyaṃ sasthāya vyūhadvāram uyayau ||
tasmin kṣaṇe tasya yantā rṇam aśvān acodayat ||
bhīmasenasya kauravya tad adbhutam ibhavat ||
tataḥ svaratham āsthāya bhīmaseno mabalaḥ ||
abhyavartata vegena tava putrasya hinīm ||
sa mṛdnan kṣatrin ājau to vṛkṣān ivoddhataḥ ||
agacchad dārayan senāṃ sindhuvego nan iva ||

Translation

He, being struck in battle, seized Drona's chariot by its pole with his hand, O venerable one, and hurled it away, the mighty one. And Drona, hastening, O king, thrown down by Bhima in battle, mounted another chariot and came up to the gate of the array. He, trampling kshatriyas in battle like a raging wind trampling trees, went on, tearing through the host, like a river's current through mountains.
