भोजानीकं समासाद्य हार्दिक्येनाभिरक्षितम् ॥
प्रमथ्य बहुधा राजन् भीमसेनः समभ्ययात् ॥
संत्रासयन्न् अनीकानि तलशब्देन मारिष ॥
अजयत् सर्वसैन्यानि शार्दूल इव गोवृषान् ॥
भोजानीकम् अतिक्रम्य काम्बोजानां च वाहिनीम् ॥
तथा म्लेच्छगणांश् चान्यान् बहून् युद्धविशारदान् ॥
सात्यकिं चापि संप्रेक्ष्य युध्यमानं नरर्षभम् ॥
रथेन यत्तः कौन्तेयो वेगेन प्रययौ तदा ॥
bhojānīkaṃ samāsādya hārdikyenābhirakṣitam ||
pramathya bahudhā rājan bhīmasenaḥ samabhyayāt ||
saṃtrāsayann anīkāni talaśabdena māriṣa ||
ajayat sarvasainyāni śārdūla iva govṛṣān ||
bhojānīkam atikramya kāmbojānāṃ ca vāhinīm ||
tathā mlecchagaṇāṃś cānyān bahūn yuddhaviśāradān ||
sātyakiṃ cāpi saṃprekṣya yudhyamānaṃ nararṣabham ||
rathena yattaḥ kaunteyo vegena prayayau tadā ||

Bhima terrifies whole armies with a single "talaśabdena," a clap of the palm against the bowstring: his terror needs no blow at all. It is telling that he does not linger, but passes through all these hosts, keeping his goal in mind — Arjuna. The verse teaches that one set upon what matters most is not captivated by victories along the way: the dread sound of his strength scatters the enemy, while he himself moves on, not diverting himself, toward the very thing for which he set out.
