Here, among the rest, weapons too are laid out -- a lure for the kshatriya. It is telling that gleaming implements of war are set beside the tools of labor and amusement: they draw the one in whom a warrior's spirit lives. This test is righteous -- it compels nothing, but merely lets the heart reveal itself through free choice. So the scripture shows the fullness of the trial, and the weapons wait for the hand that is kindred to them.
