ततः कतिपयाहस्य तस्मिन् रैवतके गिरौ ॥
वृष्ण्यन्धकानाम् अभवत् सुमहान् उत्सवो नृप ॥
तत्र दानं ददुर् वीरा ब्राह्मणानां सहस्रशः ॥
भोजवृष्ण्यन्धकाश् चैव महे तस्य गिरेस् तदा ॥

Vaishampayana said: "Then, after several days had passed, on that mountain Raivataka there was a most magnificent festival of the Vrishnis and Andhakas; there the heroes gave gifts to brahmins by the thousands — the Bhojas, Vrishnis, and Andhakas — at the festival of that mountain."

Here the festival of the righteous begins with gifts to the brahmins. It is significant that the Vrishnis give gifts to the brahmins before the revelry begins: the pious sanctify celebration through generosity to the worthy. True joy is dissolved in charity. Thus scripture reveals the good custom of the Yadavas; and their festival is sanctified by giving.
