भ्रातृभिः सहितो राजा चतुर्भिर् अधिकं बभौ ॥
प्रयुज्यमानैर् विततो वेदैर् इव महाध्वरः ॥
तं तु धौम्यादयो विप्राः परिवार्योपतस्थिरे ॥
बृहस्पतिसमा मुख्याः प्रजापतिम् इवामराः ॥
धर्मराजे अतिप्रीत्या पूर्णचन्द्र इवामले ॥
प्रजानां रेमिरे तुल्यं नेत्राणि हृदयानि च ॥
bhrātṛbhiḥ sahito rājā caturbhir adhikaṃ babhau ||
prayujyamānair vitato vedair iva mahādhvaraḥ ||
taṃ tu dhaumyādayo viprāḥ parivāryopatasthire ||
bṛhaspatisamā mukhyāḥ prajāpatim ivāmarāḥ ||
dharmarāje atiprītyā pūrṇacandra ivāmale ||
prajānāṃ remire tulyaṃ netrāṇi hṛdayāni ca ||
"The king, together with his four brothers, shone all the more, like a great sacrifice spread out by the Vedas being applied; his brahmins, headed by Dhaumya, surrounding him, stood attendant, foremost, equal to Brihaspati, as immortals attend Prajapati; by the King of Dharma, as by a stainless full moon, with the greatest love, the eyes and hearts of his subjects rejoiced alike."

Here the king is a delight to the eyes and hearts of the people alike. It is telling that he is likened to the full moon: a righteous sovereign gladdens his subjects both in sight and in soul. Telling too is the ring of brahmins around him: a righteous king rules surrounded by holy counselors. The love of the people is the crown of righteous rule. Thus scripture reveals the universal love felt for Yudhishthira; and his kingdom shines like a sacrifice in progress.
