न ह्य् अर्जुनं महाबाहुं नापि कृष्णं महाबलम् ॥
निरीक्षितुं वै शक्नोति कश् चिद् योद्धुं कुतः पुनः ॥
एकायनगता ये ऽपि निष्पतन्त्य् अत्र के चन ॥
राक्षसान् दानवान् नागाञ् जघ्ने चक्रेण तान् हरिः ॥
ते विभिन्नशिरोदेहाश् चक्रवेगाद् गतासवः ॥
पेतुर् आस्ये महाकाया दीप्तस्य वसुरेतसः ॥
na hy arjunaṃ mahābāhuṃ nāpi kṛṣṇaṃ mahābalam ||
nirīkṣituṃ vai śaknoti kaś cid yoddhuṃ kutaḥ punaḥ ||
ekāyanagatā ye 'pi niṣpatanty atra ke cana ||
rākṣasān dānavān nāgāñ jaghne cakreṇa tān hariḥ ||
te vibhinnaśirodehāś cakravegād gatāsavaḥ ||
petur āsye mahākāyā dīptasya vasuretasaḥ ||
For neither Arjuna the mighty-armed, nor Krishna the immensely powerful, could anyone even behold; how much less speak of fighting? And whoever, rushing along a single path, broke free — those rakshasas, danavas, and nagas Hari struck down with his chakra; they, their heads and bodies cleft apart, lifeless from the force of the chakra, fell, great of body, into the maw of the blazing Agni.

Here the chakra of Hari overtakes even those who broke free. It is significant that Krishna destroys those fleeing along a single path: from the will of the Lord not even the fugitive can escape. In this is the inescapability of his judgment. Thus scripture reveals the all-encompassing nature of the deed; and terrible is this image, where the "maw of fire" swallows the fallen.
