तथाग्नौ ते परीत्ताश् च त्वया हि मम संनिधौ ॥
प्रतिश्रुतं तथा चेति ज्वलनेन महात्मना ॥
लोकपालो ऽनृतां वाचं न तु वक्ता कथं चन ॥
समर्थास् ते च वक्तारो न ते तेष्व् अस्ति मानसम् ॥

pratiśrutaṃ tathā ceti jvalanena mahātmanā ||
lokapālo 'nṛtāṃ vācaṃ na tu vaktā kathaṃ cana ||

Here is the truth about the faithfulness of the virtuous to their word; but Lapita ascribes Mandapala's fear to another cause. Thus the scripture shows Lapita's argument; and behind it, her jealous reproach.
