किं ते ज्येष्ठे सुते कार्यं किम् अनन्तरजेन वा ॥
किं च ते मध्यमे कार्यं किं कनिष्ठे तपस्विनि ॥
यस् त्वं मां सर्वशो हीनाम् उत्सृज्यासि गतः पुरा ॥
ताम् एव लपितां गच्छ तरुणीं चारुहासिनीम् ॥

Traducción
Jarita said: “What concern is the eldest son to you, or the one born next, and what concern is the middle one, or the youngest, to you, O ascetic? You, who left me destitute of everything and went away before — go to that very Lapita, young and sweetly smiling.”

Here the abandoned wife pours out the bitterness of being left behind. It is telling that Jarita sends her husband back to the young rival: one forsaken in need remembers the wrong even in a moment of joy. Here is a rightful bitterness, yet also a call to reconciliation hidden within the reproach. So the scripture reveals Jarita's rebuke; and Mandapala will answer with a word about the nature of women.
