न अहम् एवं चरे लोके यथा त्वम् अभिमन्यसेna aham evaṃ care loke yathā tvam abhimanyase“I do not wander the world as you imagine;
अपत्य-हेतोः विचरे तत् च कृच्छ्र-गतं ममapatya-hetoḥ vicare tat ca kṛcchra-gataṃ mamaI roam for the sake of offspring, and that task of mine is now in peril;
भूतं हित्वा भविष्ये अर्थे यः अवलम्बेत मन्द-धीःbhūtaṃ hitvā bhaviṣye arthe yaḥ avalambeta manda-dhīḥone who, abandoning what exists, relies on some future gain, being dull-witted —
अवमन्येत तं लोकः यथा इच्छसि तथा कुरुavamanyeta taṃ lokaḥ yathā icchasi tathā kuruhim the world will despise; do as you wish;
एषः हि ज्वलमानः अग्निः लेलिहानः महीरुहान्eṣaḥ hi jvalamānaḥ agniḥ lelihānaḥ mahīruhānfor this blazing fire, licking at the trees,
