कस्य चित् त्व् अथ कालस्य कंसो निर्मथ्य बान्धवान् ॥
बार्हद्रथसुते देव्याव् उपागच्छद् वृथामतिः ॥
अस्तिः प्राप्तिश् च नाम्ना ते सहदेवानुजे ऽबले ॥
बलेन तेन स ज्ञातीन् अभिभूय वृथामतिः ॥
श्रैष्ठ्यं प्राप्तः स तस्यासीद् अतीवापनयो महान् ॥
भोजराजन्यवृद्धैस् तु पीड्यमानैर् दुरात्मना ॥

After some time had passed, the dull-witted Kamsa, having trampled upon his own kinsmen, took as wives the two daughters of Barhadratha [Jarasandha] — the princesses Asti and Prapti, the gentle younger sisters of Sahadeva; by that [new] strength the dull-witted one, having trampled his kinsmen, attained supremacy, and this was for him a very great lawlessness. And the elders of the kshatriya-Bhojas, oppressed by the wicked one...
