त्रि-योजन-आयतम् सद्मtri-yojana-āyatam sadmaa hall [city] extending three yojanas,
त्रि-स्कन्धम् योजनात् अधिtri-skandham yojanāt adhithree-tiered, more than a yojana [in height],
योजन-अन्ते शत-द्वारम्yojana-ante śata-dvāramwith a hundred gates every yojana,
विक्रम-क्रम-तोरणम्vikrama-krama-toraṇamwith arches for the movement of troops,
अष्टादश-अवरैः नद्धम्aṣṭādaśa-avaraiḥ naddhamfortified by the eighteen [clans],
क्षत्रियैः युद्ध-दुर्मदैःkṣatriyaiḥ yuddha-durmadaiḥkshatriyas fierce in battle;

Here Krishna reckons the strength of his clan — not as boasting, but for an ally's sound calculation. It is telling that for a shared undertaking one must know the forces at hand: prudence demands a clear accounting before summoning to war. Thus scripture shows an exact tally as part of wise preparation; and what follows names the heroes one by one.
