द्रोणस्याभिमुखाः शीघ्रम् अगच्छन् वातरंहसः ॥
इषुजालावृतं घोरम् अन्धकारम् अनन्तरम् ॥
अनाधृष्यम् इवान्येषां शूराणाम् अभवत् तदा ॥

Traducción
Then the finest silver-hued horses of Madhava [Satyaki] sped swiftly toward Drona, swift as the wind. Covered by a net of arrows, terrible, [there arose] an impenetrable darkness, as if unassailable for other heroes then.

The meeting of the two creates "andhakāram," an impenetrable darkness woven of arrows — "anādhṛṣyam anyeṣām," unassailable to others. The duel of the greatest fences itself off from the rest with a wall of arrows. It is telling that a clash of equals creates a special world closed to others. The verse teaches that the meeting of the truly great unfolds as if in a separate space: their contest is so dense that others cannot enter it; and there are thresholds of valor open only to equals, which lesser men dare not cross.
