सूर्यम् अग्निः प्रविष्टः स्याद् यथा चाग्निं दिवाकरः ॥
तथा प्रविष्टं तत् तेजो न प्राज्ञायत किं चन ॥
विकीर्णम् अस्त्रं तद् दृष्ट्वा तथा भीमरथं प्रति ॥
उदीर्यमाणं द्रौणिं च निष्प्रतिद्वंद्वम् आहवे ॥
सर्वसैन्यानि पाण्डूनां न्यस्तशस्त्राण्य् अचेतसः ॥
युधिष्ठिरपुरोगांश् च विमुखांस् तान् महारथान् ॥
sūryam agniḥ praviṣṭaḥ syād yathā cāgniṃ divākaraḥ ||
tathā praviṣṭaṃ tat tejo na prājñāyata kiṃ cana ||
vikīrṇam astraṃ tad dṛṣṭvā tathā bhīmarathaṃ prati ||
udīryamāṇaṃ drauṇiṃ ca niṣpratidvaṃdvam āhave ||
sarvasainyāni pāṇḍūnāṃ nyastaśastrāṇy acetasaḥ ||
yudhiṣṭhirapurogāṃś ca vimukhāṃs tān mahārathān ||
As fire would enter the sun, and as the sun into fire, so that heat, having entered [Bhima] — nothing could be discerned. Seeing that weapon scattered thus toward the chariot of Bhima, and Drauni raising it, having no rival in the battle — all the armies of the Pandus, having laid down their weapons, bereft of sense, and led by Yudhishthira, those great chariot-warriors who had turned away...

The merging of the heat with Bhima, like fire with the sun, blurs all boundaries -- an image of complete absorption. It is telling that before this power the whole army lost its senses and turned away: even the greatest retreat where strength exceeds all measure. The verse teaches that there are limits before which the valor of multitudes falls silent; and salvation will come not from the host but from the two -- those in whom a higher power dwells.
