अष्टभिर् निशितैश् चैव सो ऽश्वत्थामानम् आर्दयत् ॥
विंशत्या पुनर् आहत्य नानारूपैर् अमर्षणम् ॥
विव्याध च तथा सूतं चतुर्भिश् चतुरो हयान् ॥
सो ऽतिविद्धो महेष्वासो नानालिङ्गैर् अमर्षणः ॥
युयुधानेन वै द्रौणिः प्रहसन् वाक्यम् अब्रवीत् ॥

aṣṭabhir niśitaiś caiva so 'śvatthāmānam ārdayat ||
viṃśatyā punar āhatya nānārūpair amarṣaṇam ||
vivyādha ca tathā sūtaṃ caturbhiś caturo hayān ||
so 'tividdho maheṣvāso nānāliṅgair amarṣaṇaḥ ||
yuyudhānena vai drauṇiḥ prahasan vākyam abravīt ||

Traducción

With eight sharp arrows he struck Ashvatthaman, and striking again with twenty more, with varied arrows, the impatient one; and thus he pierced the charioteer, and with four more the four horses. He, heavily pierced, the great archer, impatient under the varied arrows of Yuyudhana [Satyaki] -- Drauni, laughing, spoke these words.
