कश् चित् तव रुजं कर्ता मत्प्रसादात् कथं चन ॥
अपि चेत् समरं गत्वा भविष्यसि ममाधिकः ॥

Rudra completes the gift with an astonishing word: "having entered battle, you will become superior to me." This self-diminishing of the Highest for the sake of another is notable: true greatness raises the beloved above itself. The verse teaches that in the order of divine love there is no jealous rivalry — Rudra rejoices in Narayana's superiority; and the mutual generosity shown here is an image of that fullness in which the lover seeks not primacy for himself but the exaltation of the beloved.
