अनुवाद

The kings who were there, wishing to see the svayamvara, likewise departed each to his own kingdom, O conqueror of enemy cities. Thus, having won those maidens, Bhishma, best of warriors, set out for Hastinapura, where that king, the Kaurava, was. In a short time, O lord of men, he passed through forests, rivers, and mountains with their varied trees. Unharmed, having destroyed his enemies in battle, that son of Ganga who flows to the ocean, of immeasurable valor, brought the daughters of the king of Kashi. As daughters-in-law, that righteous one, or as younger sisters, or as daughters, having received them, he set out for the land of the Kurus. All of them, endowed with virtues, won by valor — brother to younger brother — Bhishma gave to Vichitravirya. By the dharma of the virtuous, the knower of dharma, having performed a superhuman deed, he set about the marriage of his brother Vichitravirya, he, master of himself, having reached a decision together with Satyavati.
