ततस् तस्मिन् गिरिश्रेष्ठे देवगन्धर्वसेविते ॥
जग्राह विधिवत् पाणिं तपत्याः स नरर्षभः ॥
वसिष्ठेनाभ्यनुज्ञातस् तस्मिन्न् एव धराधरे ॥
सो ऽकामयत राजर्षिर् विहर्तुं सह भार्यया ॥

अनुवाद
"Then on that best of mountains, honored by gods and gandharvas, that bull among men took Tapati's hand according to the rite; and, permitted by Vasishtha, the royal sage wished to dwell on that very mountain in delight with his wife."

Here love is crowned by lawful marriage. It is significant that the union is performed "according to the rite" and with the teacher's permission: what began as attraction is sealed by dharma — a hand joined according to proper form and blessed by the guru. Here is the lesson that consecrated love is pure and blessed, while unsanctioned love is not. Thus the scripture shows that passion, passed through law and the consent of elders, attains the sanctity of marriage; and Samvarana receives Tapati in the proper way, not by abduction.
