ततः पाशैस् तदात्मानं गाढं बद्ध्वा महामुनिः ॥
तस्या जले महानद्या निममज्ज सुदुःखितः ॥
अथ छित्त्वा नदी पाशांस् तस्यारिबलमर्दन ॥
समस्थं तम् ऋषिं कृत्वा विपाशं समवासृजत् ॥
उत्ततार ततः पाशैर् विमुक्तः स महान् ऋषिः ॥
विपाशेति च नामास्या नद्याश् चक्रे महान् ऋषिः ॥

अनुवाद

"Then, having bound himself fast with ropes, the great muni plunged into the waters of that great river, deeply grieving; but the river, cutting his bonds, O crusher of enemy hosts, carried the rishi out unharmed and unbound onto the bank. Freed from his bonds, the great rishi rose from the water and gave that river the name 'Vipasha.'"
