विचित्रवीर्यस्य तु कच्चिद् अद्य; कुरुप्रवीरस्य धरन्ति पुत्राः ॥
कच्चित् तु पार्थेन यवीयसाद्य; धनुर् गृहीतं निहतं च लक्ष्यम् ॥

Here a father's hope arrives at a direct question about the Pandavas. It is telling that Drupada asks whether the Pandavas are alive and whether it was Arjuna who took up the bow — his hidden longing comes into the open. Here one sees how ardent desire seeks its own confirmation: the father names the very man he yearns for as his son-in-law. So the scripture reveals the full measure of Drupada's hope, and his question anticipates Dhrishtadyumna's joyful answer, which will exceed a father's hopes.
