वैशंपायन उवाच
ततो ऽब्रवीद् भगवान् धर्मराजम्; अद्य पुण्याहम् उत पाण्डवेय ॥
अद्य पौष्यं योगम् उपैति चन्द्रमाः; पाणिं कृष्णायास् त्वं गृहाणाद्य पूर्वम् ॥

अनुवाद
Vaishampayana said: "Then the lord Vyasa said to the King of dharma: 'Today is an auspicious day, O Pandava; today the moon enters the constellation Pushya -- take the hand of Krishna, you, first, today.'"

Here the sage chooses the auspicious time and the fitting order. It is telling that Vyasa points to the favorable constellation and bids the eldest go first: even what is sanctified from above is accomplished at a propitious hour and by seniority. Piety honors both time and order. Thus the verse shows care for auspicious signs; and the marriage begins with Yudhishthira, the eldest.
