कस्य चित् त्व् अथ कालस्य पुनर् एव महातपाः ॥
मगधान् उपचक्राम भगवांश् चण्डकौशिकः ॥
तस्यागमनसंहृष्टः सामात्यः सपुरःसरः ॥
सभार्यः सह पुत्रेण निर्जगाम बृहद्रथः ॥
पाद्यार्घ्याचमनीयैस् तम् अर्चयाम् आस भारत ॥
स नृपो राज्यसहितं पुत्रं चास्मै न्यवेदयत् ॥

स-भार्यः सह पुत्रेणsa-bhāryaḥ saha putreṇawith his wives, with his son,
निर्जगाम बृहद्रथःnirjagāma bṛhadrathaḥBrihadratha went out [to meet him];

तम् अर्चयाम् आस भारतtam arcayām āsa bhāratahe honored him, O Bharata;

अनुवाद

'After some time had passed, the great ascetic, the lord Chandakaushika, again approached the Magadhas; rejoicing at his arrival, Brihadratha went out [to meet him] with his counselors, attendants, wives, and son; he honored him with water for the feet, arghya, and water for rinsing the mouth, O Bharata, and offered him his son together with his kingdom.'
