कस्य चित् तु अथ कालस्यkasya cit tu atha kālasyaafter some time had passed
पुनः एव महा-तपाःpunaḥ eva mahā-tapāḥagain, the great ascetic,

Here the king is ready to give the sage both his son and his kingdom. It is significant that the grateful heart counts nothing too dear for its benefactor: one who has received a great gift is ready to give everything. Scripture thus shows the generosity of a thankful heart; and next the sage foresees what is to come.
