Чандакаушика (мудрец)
अस्य वीर्यवतो वीर्यं नानुयास्यन्ति पार्थिवाः ॥
देवैर् अपि विसृष्टानि शस्त्राण्य् अस्य महीपते ॥
न रुजं जनयिष्यन्ति गिरेर् इव नदीरयाः ॥
सर्वमूर्धाभिषिक्तानाम् एष मूर्ध्नि ज्वलिष्यति ॥
सर्वेषां निष्प्रभकरो ज्योतिषाम् इव भास्करः ॥
एनम् आसाद्य राजानः समृद्धबलवाहनाः ॥
विनाशम् उपयास्यन्ति शलभा इव पावकम् ॥
asya vīryavato vīryaṃ nānuyāsyanti pārthivāḥ ||
devair api visṛṣṭāni śastrāṇy asya mahīpate ||
na rujaṃ janayiṣyanti girer iva nadīrayāḥ ||
sarvamūrdhābhiṣiktānām eṣa mūrdhni jvaliṣyati ||
sarveṣāṃ niṣprabhakaro jyotiṣām iva bhāskaraḥ ||
enam āsādya rājānaḥ samṛddhabalavāhanāḥ ||
vināśam upayāsyanti śalabhā iva pāvakam ||
'Kings will not attain the valor of this valorous one; even weapons loosed by the gods, O lord of the earth, will cause him no harm, just as river torrents [do no harm] to a mountain. He will blaze at the crown above all the anointed [kings], depriving all of their brilliance, as the sun [outshines] the [other] heavenly lights; and kings, abundant in army and [draft] animals, meeting him, will come to destruction, as moths [come] to fire.'

Here a fearsome invulnerability is foretold: not even the weapons of the gods will wound him. It is significant that [as will happen] it is not weapons but bare hands that will slay him — Bhima's hands: where metal is powerless, dharma armed only with the body prevails. Scripture thus marks out in advance the manner of his death; and next comes his dominion.
