तांस् त्व् अपूर्वेण वेषेण दृष्ट्वा नृपतिसत्तमः ॥
उपतस्थे जरासंधो विस्मितश् चाभवत् तदा ॥
ते तु दृष्ट्वैव राजानं जरासंधं नरर्षभाः ॥
इदम् ऊचुर् अमित्रघ्नाः सर्वे भरतसत्तम ॥
स्वस्त्य् अस्तु कुशलं राजन्न् इति सर्वे व्यवस्थिताः ॥
तं नृपं नृपशार्दूल विप्रैक्षन्त परस्परम् ॥

दृष्ट्वा नृपति-सत्तमःdṛṣṭvā nṛpati-sattamaḥseeing, the best of kings
उपतस्थे जरासंधःupatasthe jarāsaṃdhaḥJarasandha received
विस्मितः च अभवत् तदाvismitaḥ ca abhavat tadāand was then astonished;
ते तु दृष्ट्वा एव राजानम्te tu dṛṣṭvā eva rājānamthey, having just seen the king
जरासंधम् नर-ऋषभाःjarāsaṃdham nara-ṛṣabhāḥJarasandha, bulls among men,
इदम् ऊचुः अमित्र-घ्नाःidam ūcuḥ amitra-ghnāḥsaid this, slayers of foes,
सर्वे भरत-सत्तमsarve bharata-sattamaall of them, O best of the Bharatas:
स्वस्ति अस्तु कुशलम् राजन्svasti astu kuśalam rājan"May there be well-being, prosperity, O king" —
इति सर्वे व्यवस्थिताःiti sarve vyavasthitāḥthus all, having spoken, stood;
तम् नृपम् नृप-शार्दूलtam nṛpam nṛpa-śārdūlaat that king, O tiger among kings,

अनुवाद

"Seeing them in an unprecedented guise, the best of kings, Jarasandha, received them and was then astonished; they, having just seen King Jarasandha, those bulls among men, slayers of foes, all said: 'May there be well-being, prosperity to you, O king' — and so stood, gazing at that king, O tiger among kings, and at one another."
