'He who at the hour of departure remembers the Seer, the Ancient One, the Ruler, subtler than the subtlest, the sustainer of all, of inconceivable form, radiant as the sun and beyond all darkness; who, joined with bhakti and the power of yoga, with unwavering mind rightly fixes the prana between the brows — he attains that supreme divine Purusha. I shall briefly explain to thee that goal which the knowers of the Vedas call the imperishable, which passionless ascetics enter, and for the sake of which seekers observe brahmacharya. Restraining all the gates of the senses, confining the mind within the heart, fixing one's prana at the crown of the head, established in yogic concentration, uttering the single syllable Om — the Brahman — and remembering Me, he who departs, leaving the body, attains the supreme goal.'

The yogic discipline described here is not separate from bhakti: what is decisive remains the remembrance of Krishna. Mastery of the senses, the breath, and the mind becomes complete only when it is directed toward the Supreme Purusha, and not toward self-control as an impersonal technique.
