देवनागरी

कर्ण राजपुरं गत्वा त्वयैकेन धनुष्मता ॥
तस्यार्थे कुरुराजस्य राजानो मृदिता युधि ॥
तथा च बलवान् राजा जरासंधो दुरासदः ॥
समरे समरश्लाघी त्वया न सदृशो ऽभवत् ॥
ब्रह्मण्यः सत्यवादी च तेजसार्क इवापरः ॥
देवगर्भो ऽजितः संख्ये मनुष्यैर् अधिको भुवि ॥
व्यपनीतो ऽद्य मन्युर् मे यस् त्वां प्रति पुरा कृतः ॥
दैवं पुरुषकारेण न शक्यम् अतिवर्तितुम् ॥
सोदर्याः पाण्डवा वीरा भ्रातरस् ते ऽरिसूदन ॥
संगच्छ तैर् महाबाहो मम चेद् इच्छसि प्रियम् ॥
मया भवतु निर्वृत्तं वैरम् आदित्यनन्दन ॥
पृथिव्यां सर्वराजानो भवन्त्व् अद्य निरामयाः ॥

karṇa rājapuraṃ gatvā tvayaikena dhanuṣmatā ||
tasyārthe kururājasya rājāno mṛditā yudhi ||
tathā ca balavān rājā jarāsaṃdho durāsadaḥ ||
samare samaraślāghī tvayā na sadṛśo 'bhavat ||
brahmaṇyaḥ satyavādī ca tejasārka ivāparaḥ ||
devagarbho 'jitaḥ saṃkhye manuṣyair adhiko bhuvi ||
vyapanīto 'dya manyur me yas tvāṃ prati purā kṛtaḥ ||
daivaṃ puruṣakāreṇa na śakyam ativartitum ||
sodaryāḥ pāṇḍavā vīrā bhrātaras te 'risūdana ||
saṃgaccha tair mahābāho mama ced icchasi priyam ||
mayā bhavatu nirvṛttaṃ vairam ādityanandana ||
pṛthivyāṃ sarvarājāno bhavantv adya nirāmayāḥ ||

त्वया एकेन धनुष्मताtvayā ekena dhanuṣmatāby you alone, the bowman; by you alone, armed with a bow
तस्य अर्थे कुरुराजस्यtasya arthe kururājasyafor the sake of that king of the Kurus; for the benefit of Duryodhana
राजानः मृदिताः युधिrājānaḥ mṛditāḥ yudhikings were crushed in battle; sovereigns were overwhelmed
तथा च बलवान् राजाtathā ca balavān rājāand likewise the mighty king; and the powerful sovereign
जरासंधः दुरासदःjarāsaṃdhaḥ durāsadaḥJarasandha, hard to approach; unassailable Jarasandha
समरे समरश्लाघीsamare samaraślāghīproud of battle in battle; boasting of combat
त्वया न सदृशः अभवत्tvayā na sadṛśaḥ abhavatwas not equal to you; did not prove your equal
ब्रह्मण्यः सत्यवादी चbrahmaṇyaḥ satyavādī careverent toward brahmins and truthful; pious and true-speaking
तेजसा अर्कः इव अपरःtejasā arkaḥ iva aparaḥin splendor like another sun; in brilliance like a second Arka
देवगर्भः अजितः संख्येdevagarbhaḥ ajitaḥ saṃkhyeof divine birth, unconquered in battle; born of a god, unconquerable
मनुष्यैः अधिकः भुविmanuṣyaiḥ adhikaḥ bhuvisurpassing men on earth; above men on earth
व्यपनीतः अद्य मन्युः मेvyapanītaḥ adya manyuḥ memy anger is removed today; my wrath is now set aside
यः त्वाम् प्रति पुरा कृतःyaḥ tvām prati purā kṛtaḥwhich was formerly directed at you; once turned against you
दैवम् पुरुषकारेणdaivam puruṣakāreṇafate by human effort; destiny by a man's effort
न शक्यम् अतिवर्तितुम्na śakyam ativartitumcannot be overstepped; cannot be overcome
सोदर्याः पाण्डवाः वीराःsodaryāḥ pāṇḍavāḥ vīrāḥthe heroic Pandavas, born of the same womb; the Pandavas, brothers by the same mother
भ्रातरः ते अरिसूदनbhrātaraḥ te arisūdanaare your brothers, O slayer of foes; your brothers
संगच्छ तैः महाबाहोsaṃgaccha taiḥ mahābāhojoin with them, mighty-armed one; reconcile with them
मम चेत् इच्छसि प्रियम्mama cet icchasi priyamif you wish to please me; if you desire my good
मया भवतु निर्वृत्तम्mayā bhavatu nirvṛttamlet it be ended with me; let it stop with me
वैरम् आदित्यनन्दनvairam ādityanandanathe enmity, O son of Aditya; the feud, son of the Sun
पृथिव्याम् सर्वराजानःpṛthivyām sarvarājānaḥall kings on earth; all the sovereigns of the earth
भवन्तु अद्य निरामयाःbhavantu adya nirāmayāḥlet them be unharmed today; let them be freed from troubles
अनुवाद

"Karna, having gone alone to the city of kings, bow in hand, you crushed many sovereigns in battle for the sake of the king of the Kurus. And the mighty king Jarasandha, unassailable and proud of his prowess in battle, did not prove your equal in combat. You are reverent toward brahmins, you speak the truth, in splendor you are like a second sun, you are of divine birth, unconquered in battle, and you surpass men on earth. Today my former anger toward you is set aside. Fate cannot be overcome by human effort. The heroic Pandavas are your brothers by the same mother, O slayer of foes. Join with them, mighty-armed one, if you wish to please me. Let the enmity end with me, O son of Aditya, and let all the kings on earth be freed from harm today."
