सर्वास्व् अवस्थासु हिताव् अर्जुनस्य मनोनुगौ ॥
बहुमानात् प्रियत्वाच् च ताव् एनं वक्तुम् अर्हतः ॥
ततस् तं पुत्रशोकेन भृशं पीडितमानसम् ॥
राजीवलोचनं क्रुद्धं राजा वचनम् अब्रवीत् ॥

sarvāsv avasthāsu hitāv arjunasya manonugau ||
bahumānāt priyatvāc ca tāv enaṃ vaktum arhataḥ ||
tatas taṃ putraśokena bhṛśaṃ pīḍitamānasam ||
rājīvalocanaṃ kruddhaṃ rājā vacanam abravīt ||

शब्दशः अर्थ
संस्कृतIASTअर्थ
सर्वासु अवस्थासुsarvāsu avasthāsuin all conditions [under any circumstance]; at every hour
हितौhitauwell-wishers [caring for his good]; well-wishers
अर्जुनस्य मनोनुगौarjunasya manonugaufollowing Arjuna's mind [dear to his heart]; attuned to Arjuna's heart
बहुमानात्bahumānātout of [mutual] regard; out of great respect
प्रियत्वात् चpriyatvāt caand out of [mutual] love; and out of love
तौ एनम् वक्तुम् अर्हतःtau enam vaktum arhataḥthose two are entitled to speak with him; only they are entitled to speak with him
ततः तम् पुत्रशोकेनtataḥ tam putraśokenathen him, from grief for his son; then him, with grief for his son
भृशम् पीडितमानसम्bhṛśam pīḍitamānasamwith a heart sorely afflicted; with a heart grievously afflicted
राजीवलोचनम्rājīvalocanamlotus-eyed; lotus-eyed
क्रुद्धम्kruddhamwrathful; wrathful
राजा वचनम् अब्रवीत्rājā vacanam abravītthe king [Yudhishthira] spoke a word; the king spoke a word
अनुवाद

Those two, well-wishers at every hour, attuned to Arjuna's heart -- out of great respect and love, they alone were entitled to speak with him. And then, to him whose heart was grievously afflicted with grief for his son, the lotus-eyed, the wrathful one -- the king spoke a word.
