यत् पार्थेन प्रतिज्ञातं तत् तथा न तद् अन्यथा ॥
चिकीर्षितं हि ते भर्तुर् न भवेज् जातु निष्फलम् ॥
यदि च मनुजपन्नगाः पिशाचा; रजनिचराः पतगाः सुरासुराश् च ॥
रणगतम् अभियान्ति सिन्धुराजं; न स भविता सह तैर् अपि प्रभाते ॥
yat pārthena pratijñātaṃ tat tathā na tad anyathā ||
cikīrṣitaṃ hi te bhartur na bhavej jātu niṣphalam ||
yadi ca manujapannagāḥ piśācā; rajanicarāḥ patagāḥ surāsurāś ca ||
raṇagatam abhiyānti sindhurājaṃ; na sa bhavitā saha tair api prabhāte ||

"What Partha has promised, that shall be so, and not otherwise; for what your husband has resolved will never be in vain. And if men, serpents, pishachas, creatures of the night, birds, and gods together with asuras come to the king of Sindhu as he stands in battle -- he shall not survive even with them by dawn."

The chapter closes with an assurance that the vow cannot be undone: "yat pārthena pratijñātaṃ tat tathā na tat anyathā" -- what Partha has promised, that shall be so, and not otherwise. The reason lies behind Krishna's words: the husband's resolve "na bhavet jātu niṣphalam", never in vain, for the Lord Himself stands behind Arjuna. It is telling that the same cosmic "even if all of them defend him" now sounds from Krishna's own lips, as a seal. The verse teaches that a word spoken in accord with God's will, and confirmed by Him, carries the certainty of the law of being itself: neither men, nor gods, nor asuras can revoke it.
