तः हेचित्रं तं स्यन्दप्ररं दी
या पोयाम् साश्वसूध्वजं णे
त्वा चैनं पुत्रस् ते ताश्वो साथिः
द्रराथं तूर्णम् रुरो रंपः
पाञ्चालानां तु मुख्यौ तौ रापुत्रौ हालौ
थम् न्यं मारुह्य नंयम् भीतुः

ततः सः हेमचित्रम् तम्tataḥ saḥ hemacitram tamthen he that gold-adorned; then he, that gold-inlaid
स्यन्दनप्रवरम् गदीsyandanapravaram gadīexcellent chariot, the mace-bearer; excellent chariot, the mace-wielder
गदया पोथयाम् आसgadayā pothayām āsashattered [with] the mace; shattered with the mace
साश्वसूतध्वजम् रणेsāśvasūtadhvajam raṇe[together] with horses, charioteer, banner, in battle; along with the horses, charioteer, and banner, in the fight
हत्वा च एनम् सःhatvā ca enam saḥand having struck it down, that son of yours; and having destroyed it, that son of yours
पुत्रः ते हताश्वः हतसारथिःputraḥ te hatāśvaḥ hatasārathiḥ[with] horses slain, charioteer slain; his horses slain, his charioteer slain
मद्रराजरथम् तूर्णम्madrarājaratham tūrṇamthe chariot of the Madra king, quickly; the chariot of the king of Madra, swiftly
आरुरोह परंतपःāruroha paraṃtapaḥmounted, the scorcher of foes; mounted, the scorcher of enemies
पाञ्चालानाम् तु मुख्यौ तौpāñcālānām tu mukhyau taubut the two chiefs of the Panchalas; but those two chiefs of the Panchalas
राजपुत्रौ महाबलौrājaputrau mahābalauthe princes, mighty; the princes, exceedingly mighty
रथम् अन्यम् समारुह्यratham anyam samāruhyahaving mounted another chariot; having mounted another chariot

अनुवाद

Then he, the mace-bearer, shattered [with] the mace that gold-adorned, excellent chariot, [together] with its horses, charioteer, and banner, in the battle. And having destroyed it, that son of yours, [with] horses slain [and] charioteer slain, swiftly mounted the chariot of the king of Madra, the scorcher of foes. But those two chiefs of the Panchalas, the mighty princes, having mounted another chariot, moved [toward] Dhananjaya.
