विशस्त्रकवचाश् चान्ये वाहनेभ्यः क्षितिं गताः ॥
संछिन्ना नेमिषु गता मृदिताश् च हयद्विपैः ॥
क्रोशन्तस् तात पुत्रेति पलायन्तो ऽपरे भयात् ॥
नाभिजानन्ति चान्योन्यं कश्मलाभिहतौजसः ॥
पुत्रान् पितॄन् सखीन् भ्रातॄन् समारोप्य दृढक्षतान् ॥
जलेन क्लेदयन्त्य् अन्ये विमुच्य कवचान्य् अपि ॥

putrān pitṝn sakhīn bhrātṝn samāropya dṛḍhakṣatān ||
jalena kledayanty anye vimucya kavacāny api ||

मृदिताः च हयद्विपैःmṛditāḥ ca hayadvipaiḥand trampled by horses and elephants; and crushed by horses and elephants
क्रोशन्तः तात पुत्र इतिkrośantaḥ tāta putra iticrying "father!", "son!"; shouting "father!", "son!"
पलायन्तः अपरे भयात्palāyantaḥ apare bhayātfleeing, others, from fear; fleeing, others, from fear
न अभिजानन्ति च अन्योन्यम्na abhijānanti ca anyonyamand did not recognize one another; and did not know one another

अनुवाद

Some, stripped of weapons and armor, fell from their vehicles to the ground; cut to pieces, caught beneath the wheel-rims, and trampled by horses and elephants. Others, crying "father!", "son!", fled in terror, no longer recognizing one another, their strength struck down by despair. Yet others lifted up their grievously wounded sons, fathers, friends, and brothers, and bathed them with water, even removing their armor.
