हंसः शुचिषद् वसुर् अन्तरिक्षसद् धोता वेदिषद् अतिथिर् दुरोणसत् ।
नृषद् वरसद् ऋतसद् व्योमसद् अब्जा गोजा ऋतजा अद्रिजा ऋतं बृहत्

He is the swan in the heavens, the Vasu in the mid-air, the priest at the altar, the guest at the threshold; He is in men, in the gods, in the law, in space; born in the waters, born in the earth, born in the law, born in the mountains — [He is] the Law, the Great.

A verse that is a hymn (taken from the Ṛg-veda, 4.40.5) — the most spacious "where" in the whole Upaniṣad, an answer to every attempt to shut God up in one place. haṁsaḥ śuciṣat — "the swan dwelling in the pure light": the white bird of the sun in a clear sky; vasur antarikṣasat — "the Vasu (the good) in the airy expanse"; hotā vediṣat — "the priest at the altar"; atithir duroṇasat — "the guest in the house" (and Naciketas was such a guest!). He is nṛṣat — in men, varasat — in the best, ṛtasat — in the universal law itself, vyomasat — in the firmament.
abjā gojā ṛtajā adrijā — "water-born, earth-born, law-born, mountain-born": wherever something is born, it is He who is born: in the fish and the pearl of the waters, in the grain of the earth, in the truth of the rite, in the torrent from the hills. The conclusion is ṛtaṁ bṛhat: "[He is] the Great Law": not an inhabitant of places subject to law but the very Truth by which all places stand.
After the city of eleven gates (verse 87) this spread is necessary: He who dwells in the heart is not locked in the heart. He is in the body — and in the sky; a guest at my threshold — and the priest at the universal altar. Having found Him within, do not be surprised to meet Him everywhere; such is the mark of a genuine finding: it begins to be recognized in all places.
