स युवाभ्यां सहायाभ्याम् अस्त्रविद्भ्यां समागतः ॥
दहेयं खाण्डवं दावम् एतद् अन्नं वृतं मया ॥
युवां ह्य् उदकधारास् ता भूतानि च समन्ततः ॥
उत्तमास्त्रविदो सम्यक् सर्वतो वारयिष्यथः ॥

Here even a god seeks the assistance of heroes. It is significant that Agni asks Krishna and Arjuna to ward off Indra's rain: some things even a god cannot accomplish without a chosen instrument. Thus the Lord arranges affairs through His chosen ones, making them participants in His design. The scripture shows here the need for a union of the divine and the human; and Agni entrusts the task to the two heroes.
