Here the account of Yama's hall comes to an end, and the gaze turns to the abode of Varuna -- lord of the waters and guardian of truth. It is telling that the narrative ascends through the guardians of the world, from earthly judgment toward the depths and mysteries of being. So the text leads the mind ever higher; and the hall of Varuna is disclosed next.
