साम्राज्यं तु तवेच्छन्तो वयं योत्स्यामहे परैः ॥

Arjuna said: "The ochre [robe of renunciation] is easily obtained later—by sages desiring peace; but now, desiring sovereignty for you, we shall fight with our foes."

Here Arjuna assigns each thing its proper season: now the duty of battle, renunciation afterward. Tellingly, he does not reject peace as such, but points out that withdrawal from the world is premature while the duty of protecting the righteous remains unfulfilled. Scripture thus shows that renunciation does not justify fleeing one's obligation; what follows is [Krishna and the brothers settling on their decision].
