पतितौ हंस-डिभकौpatitau haṃsa-ḍibhakauHamsa and Dibhaka have fallen,
कंस-अमात्यौ निपातितौkaṃsa-amātyau nipātitauKamsa's counselors, struck down;
जरासंधस्य निधनेjarāsaṃdhasya nidhanefor the destruction of Jarasandha
कालः अयम् समुपागतःkālaḥ ayam samupāgataḥthe hour has now come;
न सः शक्यः रणे जेतुम्na saḥ śakyaḥ raṇe jetumhe cannot be conquered in battle
सर्वैः अपि सुर-असुरैःsarvaiḥ api sura-asuraiḥeven by all gods and demons;
प्राण-युद्धेन जेतव्यःprāṇa-yuddhena jetavyaḥby hand-to-hand combat he must be conquered

Here a design is revealed: one invulnerable to weapons must be met with bare hands. It is significant that where metal is powerless, living strength directed by dharma prevails: not the blade but righteous force will strike down the tyrant. Thus scripture shows that evil unconquerable by outward means is conquered by pure action; and further on -- reliance on the enemy's pride.
