वैशंपायन उवाच
एवम् उक्तस् ततो राज्ञा धौम्यो ऽथ द्विजसत्तमः ॥
अकरोद् विधिवत् सर्वं प्रस्थाने यद् विधीयते ॥
तेषां समिध्य तान् अग्नीन् मन्त्रवच् च जुहाव सः ॥
समृद्धिवृद्धिलाभाय पृथिवीविजयाय च ॥
अग्निं प्रदक्षिणं कृत्वा ब्राह्मणांश् च तपोधनान् ॥
याज्ञसेनीं पुरस्कृत्य षड् एवाथ प्रवव्रजुः ॥
vaiśaṃpāyana uvāca
evam uktas tato rājñā dhaumyo 'tha dvijasattamaḥ ||
akarod vidhivat sarvaṃ prasthāne yad vidhīyate ||
teṣāṃ samidhya tān agnīn mantravac ca juhāva saḥ ||
samṛddhivṛddhilābhāya pṛthivīvijayāya ca ||
agniṃ pradakṣiṇaṃ kṛtvā brāhmaṇāṃś ca tapodhanān ||
yājñasenīṃ puraskṛtya ṣaḍ evātha pravavrajuḥ ||
Vaishampayana said: "Thus addressed by the king, Dhaumya, the foremost of the twice-born, then performed by rule everything that is prescribed for a departure. Having kindled their fires, he offered oblations with mantras, for the increase of prosperity, for gain, and for victory over the earth. Having circled the fire and the brahmins rich in austerity, and placing Yajnaseni at the fore, the six of them then set out."
