"Dharma, they say, is the means to the three aims of life, O lord of the people; one who seeks them through this path quickly grows, like fire in dry grass. But you, child, O bull among the Bharatas, desire great, resplendent, and renowned supreme sovereignty over all kings by improper means. Such a man hews down himself, as one hews a forest with an axe, when, O king, he acts falsely against those who act rightly. One should not shatter the resolve of one whose downfall one does not wish; in the steadfast one, whose will is unbroken, the mind is set upon the good. A man who has abandoned himself could not overcome even some ordinary person in the three worlds, O Bharata — how much less these bulls among the Pandavas."
