एतद् विचार्य मनसा भवान् एव विनिश्चयम् ॥
विचिनोतु यथान्यायं विधानं क्रियतां तथा ॥
भीष्मे वा कुरुशार्दूले शाल्वराजे ऽथ वा पुनः ॥
उभयोर् एव वा ब्रह्मन् यद् युक्तं तत् समाचर ॥
निवेदितं मया ह्य् एतद् दुःखमूलं यथातथम् ॥
विधानं तत्र भगवन् कर्तुम् अर्हसि युक्तितः ॥
अकृतव्रण उवाच
उपपन्नम् इदं भद्रे यद् एवं वरवर्णिनि ॥
धर्मं प्रति वचो ब्रूयाः शृणु चेदं वचो मम ॥
यदि त्वाम् आपगेयो वै न नयेद् गजसाह्वयम् ॥
शाल्वस् त्वां शिरसा भीरु गृह्णीयाद् रामचोदितः ॥

译文

'Having considered this in your mind, make the decision yourself and choose the just course of action. Toward Bhishma, tiger of the Kurus, or King Shalva, or both, O brahmin, do what is right. I have told you this as it truly is: the root of my suffering. O venerable one, you should wisely determine what must be done here.' Akritavrana said: 'O gracious one, O fair one, it is fitting that you speak thus of dharma. Hear this word of mine as well: had the son of the Ganga not carried you off to Hastinapura, Shalva, urged by Rama, would have received you with honor, O timid one.'
