Yudhishthira answered Janardana: "Victory comes by your grace, and defeat by your wrath. You indeed are our refuge, Krishna, granter of fearlessness to your devotees. The victory of those who have you, Keshava, who always have you as their protector in battle and their well-wisher, is no wonder. Such is my thought: since we have gained you, there is nothing surprising in this."

Yudhishthira immediately returns the glory of victory to Krishna. In his understanding, the Pandavas' military success rests not on their own strength but on taking refuge in Keshava.
