असुरसुरमनुष्याः पक्षिणो वोरगा वा; पितृरजनिचरा वा ब्रह्मदेवर्षयो वा ॥
चरम् अचरम् अपीदं यत् परं चापि तस्मात्; तद् अपि मम रिपुं तं रक्षितुं नैव शक्ताः ॥

In this extended triṣṭubh meter the vow attains cosmic scope: neither gods nor asuras nor sages, nor 'caram acaram,' all that moves and does not move, 'mama ripuṃ rakṣitum na śaktāḥ,' are able to save the enemy. This is no boast but the expression of an ineluctable fate that Arjuna takes upon himself to fulfill. It is telling that every tier of existence is named — from the serpents below to the brahma-rishis above: nothing in all creation will stand as a barrier. The verse teaches that when will is joined to dharma and to destiny, it gains a power before which the whole created world is powerless, for it is no longer a man who strikes but an appointed outcome.
