अनुज्ञातश् च राज्ञा स प्रावेशयत तं जनम् ॥
विराटं भीमसेनं च धृष्टद्युम्नं च सात्यकिम् ॥
शिखण्डिनं यमौ चैव चेकितानं च केकयान् ॥
युयुत्सुं चैव कौरव्यं पाञ्चाल्यं चोत्तमौजसम् ॥
एते चान्ये च बहवः क्षत्रियाः क्षत्रियर्षभम् ॥
उपतस्थुर् महात्मानं विविशुश् चासनेषु ते ॥
एकस्मिन्न् आसने वीराव् उपविष्टौ महाबलौ ॥
कृष्णश् च युयुधानश् च महात्मानौ महाद्युती ॥
anujñātaś ca rājñā sa prāveśayata taṃ janam ||
virāṭaṃ bhīmasenaṃ ca dhṛṣṭadyumnaṃ ca sātyakim ||
śikhaṇḍinaṃ yamau caiva cekitānaṃ ca kekayān ||
yuyutsuṃ caiva kauravyaṃ pāñcālyaṃ cottamaujasam ||
ete cānye ca bahavaḥ kṣatriyāḥ kṣatriyarṣabham ||
upatasthur mahātmānaṃ viviśuś cāsaneṣu te ||
ekasminn āsane vīrāv upaviṣṭau mahābalau ||
kṛṣṇaś ca yuyudhānaś ca mahātmānau mahādyutī ||
And, with the king's leave, he brought in those people: Virata and Bhimasena, Dhrishtadyumna and Satyaki, Shikhandin and both the twins, Chekitana and the Kekayas, Yuyutsu, scion of Kuru, and Uttamaujas of Panchala. These and many other kshatriyas came before the bull among kshatriyas, the great-souled one, and took their seats. On one seat sat two heroes together, mighty, great-souled, greatly resplendent -- Krishna and Yuyudhana (Satyaki).

The gathering of the leaders before the decisive day shows the unity of the camp: Virata, Bhima, Dhrishtadyumna, Satyaki, and many more -- all "upatasthuḥ", coming before the King of Dharma. It is significant that Krishna shares one seat with Satyaki, His kinsman of the Vrishni line: the Lord among people is simple and near. The verse teaches that a righteous cause gathers the faithful together, and that the Lord's greatness does not set Him apart from His companions: He sits among them as a friend, and His very presence in the assembly is a pledge both of unity and of the victory to come.
