एवं गते नरश्रेष्ठ पाण्डवे सत्यवादिनि ॥
अस्माकं गमनं व्यक्तं वनं प्रति भवेत् पुनः ॥
सो ऽयं मम जयो व्यक्तं व्यर्थ एव भविष्यति ॥
यदि द्रोणो रणे क्रुद्धो निगृह्णीयाद् युधिष्ठिरम् ॥
स त्वम् अद्य महाबाहो प्रियार्थं मम माधव ॥
जयार्थं च यशोर्थं च रक्ष राजानम् आहवे ॥

译文

'With such a turn of events, O best of men, with the truthful son of Pandu — our exile to the forest would plainly come again to pass. That victory of mine will clearly prove futile, if Drona, enraged in battle, seizes Yudhishthira. Therefore you now, O mighty-armed one, for love of me, O Madhava, and for the sake of victory and glory, guard the king in battle.'
