कुरुष्वाद्यात्मनो गुप्तिं कस् ते गोप्ता गते मयि ॥
यस्याहं प्रत्ययात् पार्थ गच्छेयं फल्गुनं प्रति ॥
न ह्य् अहं त्वा महाराज अनिक्षिप्य महाहवे ॥
क्व चिद् यास्यामि कौरव्य सत्यम् एतद् ब्रवीमि ते ॥
एतद् विचार्य बहुशो बुद्ध्या बुद्धिमतां वर ॥
दृष्ट्वा श्रेयः परं बुद्ध्या ततो राजन् प्रशाधि माम् ॥
kuruṣvādyātmano guptiṃ kas te goptā gate mayi ||
yasyāhaṃ pratyayāt pārtha gaccheyaṃ phalgunaṃ prati ||
na hy ahaṃ tvā mahārāja anikṣipya mahāhave ||
kva cid yāsyāmi kauravya satyam etad bravīmi te ||
etad vicārya bahuśo buddhyā buddhimatāṃ vara ||
dṛṣṭvā śreyaḥ paraṃ buddhyā tato rājan praśādhi mām ||
See now to your own protection: who will be your guardian once I have gone, trusting whom, O Partha, I might go to Phalguna? For without entrusting you to someone in this great battle, I will go nowhere, O Kauravya — this truth I tell you. Having pondered this well, O best among the wise, and having discerned with reason the highest good, command me then, O king.

Satyaki will not move, "anikṣipya", without first entrusting the king to sure protection: fidelity does not abandon a task unfinished. And he leaves the final word to the king — "praśādhi mām", command me, having discerned the highest good. It is telling that devotion here joins steadfast care with obedience. The verse teaches that true service is never willful: having spoken his whole mind honestly, the faithful one hands the decision to the one he serves, and obeys — for obedience following honest counsel is the very maturity of devotion.
